Lectotype is shown as fig. 3 in Boisset & Ferrer-Gallego (2015). The drawing for Børgesen's Fig. 6 "from the lagoon of Krause St. Croix" is attached to the specimen sheet.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), producing offsets, bearing progeny as offshoots (Stearn 1973).
