Type locality: 14º13'S, 169º31'W; Tau Island, American Samoa (Station #TAU-07); (Kraft & Saunders 2014: 157) Holotype (a nonreproductive specimen): R.D.Withall; 13 March 2012; -13.5 m from the underside of a fore-reef undercut; UNB; GW018176 (COI-5P barcode HQ919265) (Kraft & Saunders 2014: 157, fig. 70 (bottom thallus)) Notes: Isotypes: Two specimen fragments mounted on the holotype sheet (fig. 70: top two thalli).
