The type species (holotype) of the genus Kolbesia is Kolbesia kolbei (Hustedt) Round & Bukhtiyarova ex Fourtanier & Kociolek.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Kolbesia gessneri (Hustedt) Aboal.
