Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Cladophora vagabunda (Linnaeus) C.Hoek.

Isotype locality: Val Serraglia (Lagoon of Venice); (Hoek 1963: 148) Isotype: 1/6/1932; Schiffner, Alg. mar.,; 1292 (B) (Hoek 1963: 148) Notes: Isotype n. 1292 (B) labeled as Cl. fuscescens var. prolifera. Most probably this is ment to be the var. prolifera of Cl. lagunarum (van den Hoek, 1963)
