Type locality: Cape Jaffa near Kingston, South Australia, Australia; (Townsend, Woelkerling, Harvey & Borowitzka 1995: 86) Lectotype: A. Engelhart; 1899; no habitat data on type; TRH; C19-3381 (Woelkerling & al. 2005: 477) Notes: Lectotype designated by Adey in Adey & Lebednik (1967: 84). The lectotype collection also includes two ground slide preparations, both numbered 355.
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
In intertidal pools and subtidally to depths of 30 m; some attached to rock and others unattached, forming rhodoliths (Townsend et al. 1995: 88).
