Epitype: strain FK13-1, US 217964. Looe Key, Florida (24°35'400" N, 81°31'100" W), 10 June 2013, epizoic on corals and epilithic, 20 m depth, leg. N. Engene (Engene et al. 2015: 679).

Adjective (Latin), shaped like a pencil or an artist'’s camel-hair brush (Stearn 1983).
