Type locality: southern Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 313) Type: LD, Herb. Agardh; (Womersley 1994: 400) Notes: According to Womersley (1994: 400) 28531 is labelled ‘type’ but is cystocarpic, whereas J. Agardh referred to sessile nemathecia only.

Usually a moderately deep water species (Womersley 1994: 400).
