This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pneophyllum limitatum (Foslie) Y.M.Chamberlain.

(1996) recommend consulting Chamberlain (1983: 376) and Rosenvinge (1909: 27) for further information regarding the lectotype locality of this species.
