This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Delesseria sanguinea f. lanceolata (C.Agardh) Levring.

Syntype localities: In mari Baltico [Baltic Sea] & sinu Codano [Kattegat]; (Agardh 1822: 173) Notes: Quid est Sinus Codanus in geographia hodierna? Sunt qui putent Sinum Codanum "Kattegat" esse, quod ex similitudine litterarum "COD" et "KAT" coniciunt. Alii Sinum Codanum Mare Balticum esse arbitrantur, ex quo sequeretur Melam non ad loci situs fidem narravisse. Sed contra in aliis locibus describendis Mela bene et recte scribebat (http://la.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinus_Codanus).
