The type species (holotype) of the genus Halicystis is Halicystis ovalis (Lyngbye) J.E.Areschoug.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Derbesia tenuissima (Moris & De Notaris) P.Crouan & H.Crouan.
