Type locality: Ad insulas Sandvich [Hawaiian Islands] & Ravak maris australis. Spccimina legit Gaudichaud, mihique communicavit. ; (Agardh 1822: 194) Lectotype: LD; herb. Alg. Agardh 42600 (Yoshida 1998: 1050) Notes: N’Yeurt (2002: 238) notes the herbarium number of this specimen as LD 42600/0772.
