Taxonomic note
Harvey et al. (2013: 136) treat this as "...a species of uncertain status" as searched of CN and PC have failed to fund a specimen "unequivocally identified by Lamouroux as Amphiroa gaillonii" and conclude "Onthe basis of the limited protologue information, A. gaillonii most closely resembles A. foliacea Lamouroux et al. (1824: p. 50; see separate account above); however, the absence of a specimen precludes any further assessment...". - (15 April 2014) - M.D. Guiry
