Holotype locality: west side of South Head, Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia; (Millar, Saunders, Strachan & Kraft 1996: 56) Holotype: A. Millar & P. Richards; 15 April 1991; 10 m deep; NSW; A10714 (Millar, Saunders, Strachan & Kraft 1996: 56) Notes: Holotype: cystopcarpic; 11 isotypes: 3 male gametophytes, 5 female gametophytes, 3 tetrasporophytes.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Plants grow on rocks and tolerate almost complete burial by sand; found in shallow, sheltered areas or at depths of 22 m where surface swells and surge are minimal; often heavily epiphytised (Millar et al. 1996: 57).
