Type locality: La Rapadura, Santa Úrsula, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain (Macaronesia); (Rodríguez-Prieto & al. 2020: 460) Holotype (a tetrasporic plant): R. Martel; 1 October 2016; in a mixed sand-rock bottom, at a depth of 40 m; algae section, Herb. Univ. La Laguna; TFC Phyc 15296 (Rodríguez-Prieto & al. 2020: 460, fig. 24) Notes: Isotypes: TFC Phyc 15297 (fig. 25, tetrasporic), TFC Phyc 15294 (fig. 26, tetrasporic), and TFC Phyc 15300 (fig. 27 containing tetrasporic, male and female).
