Abstract:
Frustule morphology of 9 species from the araphid diatom genus Staurosira Ehrenberg
found in Lake Glubokoe (Moscow Region, Russia) was studied both with
light and scanning electron microscopy. On the basis of morphological data new combination
Staurosira neoproducta (Lange-Bertalot) Chudaev et Gololobova comb. nov.
is proposed. Importance of some features for species delimitation in the genus Staurosira
is discussed. It was shown that S. venter (Ehrenberg) Cleve et Möller represents a
comlex of weakly distinguishable entities.
