Abstract:
An updated systematic catalogue of the freshwater and marine algae of Turkey is presented with taxonomy and distribution. Included are 3690 taxa (species and infraspecies level): 1242 species of Bacillariophyta, one species of Bigyra, 386 species of Charophyta, 586 species of Chlorophyta, 8 species of Cryptophyta, 437 species of Cyanobacteria, 229 species of Dinophyta, 210 species of Euglenophyta, 5 species of Haptophyta, 213 species of Ochrophyta, 373 species of Rhodophyta. 11 phyla, 31 classes, 314 families, 828 genera are represented. The Turkish name was given to each algal taxon.
