Description: Upright blade-like thalli, up to 10 cm tall, attached to decumbent to prostrate cylindrical axes; blades probably annual, cylindrical axes perennial. Thalli basically polysiphonous, highly corticated, and axis not easily identifiable; internal tissue pseudoparenchymatous, large angular internal cells, small-celled cortex. Blades with variously lobed margins, apices with a few trichoblasts on segments near apex. Male plants described by Cormaci & al. 1994) for R. pinnata. Cystocarps attached by broad base to edge of blade-like branches. Tetrasporangia in the cortex of blades, borne in various parts of the blades, sometimes in defined sori.
