Original publication and holotype designation: Geitler, L. (1930). Ein grünes Filarplasmodium und andere neue Protisten. Archiv für Protistenkunde 69: 614-636.
Description: Unicellular, 4-9 µm diam, enclosed by clear matrix of unknown composition, about 1 µm thick, multilobed parietal plastid with central pyrenoid enclosed by floridean starch, parietal nucleus 1-2 µm diam, protoplast rotates in cell at about one revolution per hour, actin and myosin inhibitors block rotation. Low molecular weight carbohydrates are digeneaside and sorbitol. As far as known reproduction is only by cell division.
