Description: Thallus erect, decumbent or with erect and prostrate axes. Primary axes polysiphonous, each axial cell with 4 pericentral cells, ecorticate or lightly to heavily corticated by descending rhizoids. Pigmented trichoblasts arising from basal cells borne 1 per segment and in a quarter spiral arrangement. Reproductive structures on trichoblasts. Spermatangial branches cylindrical to conical, with a monosiphonous stalk and bearing lateral monosiphonous filaments in the fertile region. Cystocarps ellipsoidal to urceolate. Tetrasporangia in stichidia, with 1 sporangium per segment in a spiral sequence and also bearing lateral monosiphonous filaments.
