Description: Thallus erect to 30 cm. Branching distichous-pinnate in pairs one longer than the other, long branches with inner rhizoidal cortication and outer cellular layer, short determinate branchlets uncorticated. Procarps on basal (supporting) cells of fertile short branchlets in plane of thallus branching, carposporophytes with dense involucre of incurved filaments. Tetrasporangia sessile, adaxial on branches of determinate branchlets, tetraspores cruciately arranged.

Comments: Tribal affinities uncertain. Has been regarded as synonym of Falklandiella but recent studies maintain both genera based on features of procarp development and tetrasporangia. Known from New Zealand and cold southern seas.
