Original publication and holotype designation: Pascher, A. (1916). Rhizopodialnetze als Fangvorrichtung bei einer plasmodialen Chrysomonade. Archiv für Protistenkunde 37: 15-30.

Description: Cells very small (3-4&m), united into large netlike colonies by means of rhizopodia. Chloroplast parietal, without stigma. By division, sometimes colorless cells are formed. Reproduction by division. No flagellate stages, sexual reproduction or stomatocysts known. Found in ponds, often under ice, in Europe and North America.
