Description: Coccoid cells united in colonies by mucilage. Cells with two parietal chloroplasts. Reproduction by autospores, 2-4 spores within amother cell. Remnants of the mother cell wall persist in the jelly. Also uniflagellate zoospores, of oblique shape, have been observed in one species. Stomatocysts not observed. Found in fresh and brackish waters of Europe.
