Description: Cells surrounded with a gelatinous layer which on the top of the cell forms a disk floating on the water surface. Cell has 2 chloroplasts, one with stigma, also 2 contractile vacuoles and chrysolaminaran vacuoles. Small neustonic colonies are formed by vegetative division. Swarmers have one visible flagellum, 2 chloroplasts and a stigma. Freshwater neuston in Czechoslovakia. This genus is very close to Kremastochrysis, only deviating by the number of visible flagella, and should perhaps be included in it.
