Description: Cells are oval with rounded epiand hypotheca. Epitheca much larger. Descending cingulum (0.5-1 width). Pyrenoid with starch sheath in the episome. Orange-red stigma (inside the chloroplast) in the sulcal area. Nucleus posterior in the hyposome. Smooth thecal plates with scattered pores. Tear-shaped APC. Large anteriorsulcal plate intrudes into the epitheca. Central sulcal list, partoftherightsulcal plate. Small first anterior intercalary plate. Spherical or ovoid, proximate cyst (24- 28 pm long, 20-24 µm wide) with chasmic archeopyle. Transparent, smooth cyst wall. Endospore with pyrenoid and stigma.
