The type species (lectotype) of the genus Triceratium is Triceratium favus Ehrenberg.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Entogoniopsis morlandii (Grove & Sturt) J.Witkowski, P.A.Sims, N.I.Strelnikova & D.M.Williams.
