The type species (lectotype) of the genus Chrysymenia is Chrysymenia ventricosa (J.V.Lamouroux) J.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Botryocladia bullosa (Levring) J.N.Norris & D.L.Ballantine.
