The type species (lectotype) of the genus Porphyra is Porphyra purpurea (Roth) C.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pyrophyllon subtumens (J.Agardh ex R.M.Laing) W.A.Nelson.
