Nomenclatural note
C. Agardh (1817), Lyngbye (1819) and later authors (see Silva et al. 1995) used Linnaeus’s Fucus plumosus as basionym (a later homonym of Fucus plumosus Hudson 1762). Ptilota plumosa C.Agardh should perhapsbe treated as a new name (Athanasiadis, 1996). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
