Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Ulva is Ulva lactuca Linnaeus.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chondria capillaris (Hudson) M.J.Wynne.

Source of Synonymy
Wynne, M.J. (1991). A change in the name of the type of Chondria C. Agardh (Rhodomelaceae, Rhodophyta). Taxon 40: 316-318.
