Type locality: Lake Tovel, Alto Adige, Italy; (Moestrup & al. 2008: 57) Holotype: Fig.7 (epitype) C; A-T-2389 (Moestrup & al. 2008: 57) Notes: Holotype: A fixed sample of culture SCCAP K-0959, embedded in Spurr's resin mixture. Fig. 7 is designed to fulfil the requirements of ICBN Art. 39.1.

Eponomy
Named for John D. Dodge, British phycologist and microscopist.
