Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Glandothamnus is Glandothamnus ramulentus Wollaston.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Pterothamnion aciculare (Wollaston) Athanasiadis & Kraft.

Adjective B (Latin), acicular, i.e., narrow, stiff, pointed like a needle (Stearn 1983).
