The type species (holotype) of the genus Gymnogongrus is Gymnogongrus griffithsiae (Turner) Martius.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ahnfeltiopsis chnoosporoides (T.Tanaka & P.H.Hô) Masuda.
