Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Chylocladia is Chylocladia kaliformis (Goodenough & Woodward) Hooker.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Coelarthrum cliftonii (Harvey) Kylin.
Type Information
Type locality: Fremantle, Western Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 357) Lectotype: Clifton; Herb. Harvey, TCD; (Womersley 1996: 59) Notes: Womersley notes that C. cliftonii was based on Harvey's Trav. Set 265 which was not located in TCD in 1952. A Clifton specimen in TCD (Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 425a) is chosen as lectotype. Isolectotypes in MEL, 502097 and AD, A18250.

This is a marine species.
Habitat
Generally found attached to rock or coral at depths to 35 m (Huisman 1996: 96).
