Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi (2014: 237): "This species (type locality Étange de Thau, France) after its description (Huber, 1883), was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea by Brambati et al. (1980, from Sardinia, Italy), Cognetti et al. (1988, from the Lagoon of Orbetello, Italy) and by Soto & Conde (1989, from Almeria, Spain).
