Holotype locality: Cathedral Rock, off the south shore of Bermuda (32º20'31.1"N, 64º39'24.2"W), western Atlantic Ocean; (Schneider et al. 2011: 449) Holotype [DNA0365]: CWS-10-24-5; 23 August 2010; on a shaded horizontal rock at 17 m depth; UNB; (Schneider et al. 2011: 449) Notes: Isotypes: MICH [DNA0367], Herb. CWS.

Adjective (Latin), deep, from a great depth (Dawes & Mathieson 2008).

This is a marine species.
Description
Plants to 3 cm tall with ligulate blades to 4 mm wide and 260 µm thick centrally. Differing from Archestenogramma brasiliense by its smaller cortical (to 8 µm diam.) and mostly isodiametric medullary (to 160 µm diam.) cells, rarely transversely elongated to 180 µm diam. Gametophytes dioecious, carposporophytes scattered in distal portions, cystocarps to 750 µm diam., elevating both surfaces of blades; spermatia in scattered patches, irregularly globose, 1-2 µm diam. Sporophytes and tetrasporangia unknown.
