This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Webervanbossea splachnoides (Harvey) G.De Toni.

Taxonomic notes
According to Womersley (1994: 369) Bindera splachnoides Harvey 1859a: pl. 111, figs 5, 6 (NON figs 1-4) is a synonym of Amphiplexia hymenocladioides J. Agardh 1892. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
Schmitz (1889: 439, in Schmitz & Hauptfleisch, 1897a: 342) noted that the original descriptions and illustrations of B. splachnoides represented two species. The cystocarpic portion (figs 5 and 6) was referred to a new species and new genus, Binderella neglecta, a taxonomic synonym of Amphiplexia hymenocladioides J. Agardh (Silva et al. 1996: 279, 371). In TCD there are four specimens of B. splanchnoides Harvey. Three are tetrasporangial and are Webervanbossea splanchnoides, while the fourth is cystocarpic B. neglecta Schmitz (=amphiplexia hymenocladioides J. Agardh (Womersley 1996: 63) - (21 July 2009) - G.M. Guiry
