General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Unicellular alga with secondary plastid surrounded
by four membranes. Immotile vegetative cells with laminated
cell walls represents a dominant stage in the culture; autosporangia
contain dozens of immotile autospores; zoosporangia
contain numerous motile biflagellate zoospores; plastids pigmented
by chlorophyll a, violaxantnin, vaucheriaxanthin and
ß-carotene, with chlorophyll c missing; vegetative cells and
autospores contain a prominent pyrenoid; sporangium carries
an operculum.
