Seemingly a new name for Staurastrum curvatum W.West. "... need for new name not explained; Staurastrum curvatum W. West has priority over Staurastrum curvatum W.B. Turner 1893 and in 2013 could have been transferred to Staurodesmus without replacement of epithet; but cf. Thomasson 1965 (Nova Acta Regiae Soc. Sci. Upsal., ser. 4, 19:) for possible complication; see also Teiling (Ark.
