Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Polyzonia is Polyzonia elegans Suhr.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dasyclonium flaccidum (Harvey) Kylin.

Adjective (Latin), flaccid, not able to hold up its own weight (Stearn 1983).
