This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Pseudendosiphonia.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Endosiphonia gardineri (Weber Bosse) Weber Bosse.

"I have great pleasure in dedicating this interesting species to Mr J. Stanley Gardiner." Professor John Stanley Gardiner (1872-1946) was a British Zoologist.
