The type species (holotype) of the genus Parviphycus is Parviphycus adnatus (E.Y.Dawson) Santelices.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Millerella albertanoae (A.Bottalico, G.H.Boo, C.Russo, S.M. Boo & C.Perrone) G.H.Boo & A.Bottalico.

Bottalico; 8 July 2012; BI; BI 38463 (Bottalico et al. 2014: 244, fig. 1) Notes: Isotypes (figs 2, 3): BI38464 and BI38465 deposited at BI. GenBank accessions KC993804 for rbcL and KC993797 for cox1.
