The type species (holotype) of the genus Platessa is Platessa bavarica Lange-Bertalot & G.Hofmann.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Planothidium bahlsii (Potapova) Kulikovskiy, Glushchenko & Kociolek.
