Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Udotea is Udotea flabellum (J.Ellis & Solander) M.Howe.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Udotea cyathiformis f. sublittoralis (W.R.Taylor) D.S.Littler & Littler.
