The type species (holotype) of the genus Parviphycus is Parviphycus adnatus (E.Y.Dawson) Santelices.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Millerella myrioclada (Børgesen) G.H.Boo.

Børgesen, no. 5235; on rock in exposed places near high water mark; C; Borgesens' four slides, barcode C-A-92391 (Boo et al. 2015: 478, 479) Notes: Lectotype = specimen shown in fig. 5a fide Hatta & Prud'homme van Reine, 1991 (INA).
