The type species (holotype) of the genus Gloiosiphonia is Gloiosiphonia capillaris (Hudson) Carmichael.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Helminthocladia calvadosii (J.V.Lamouroux ex Duby) Setchell.
