Type Information
Type locality: JAPAN. Kumamoto Prefecture: Ushibuka, Amakusa Island; (Yoshida 1992: 235) Lectotype: SAP; herb. Okamura (Yoshida 1992: 235) Notes: Yoshida (1992: 235) notes that several specimens in the Okamura herbarium are now deposited in SAP. Only one collection of several plants from Ushibuka, Amakusa Island, Kumamoto Prefecture, seems to have been examined by Okamura when the name was published. One of them must be chosen as the lectotype. Because the original materials are present, there is no need for neotypification. Doty (1988:185) cites as neotype, Doty voucher No. 31613 (BISH: No 508860), collected and forwarded by Iwao Shinmura, but he notes that, in accordance with Segawa (1957), it may be that Collection No. 19766 in the herbarium of the Faculty of Science, Hokkaido Univ., will prove appropriate as a lectotype.
