Nomenclatural note
As Fucus tuberculatus Hudson is an illegitimate name, treated as new and attributed to Stackhouse [INA]. The type of Bifurcaria tuberculata Stackhouse however is representative of Polyides rotunda: "Hence the type of his Bifurcaria tuberculata, is Ray's specimen, i.e. Polyides rotundus [sic] (Huds.) Grev. [sic]. His diagnoses of the genus and the species, the three figures and one of the two descriptions he quotes are baaed, however, on the brown alga."
