Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Carpophyllum is Carpophyllum flexuosum (Esper) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Osmundaria serrata (Suhr) R.E.Norris.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), serrated, saw-edged with teeth pointing forwards (Stearn 1983).
