Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Corallina is Corallina officinalis Linnaeus.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Amphiroa tribulus (J.Ellis & Solander) J.V.Lamouroux.
Type Information
Type locality: West Indies; (Silva & al. 1996: 225) Lectotype: the only known 'original material' is the protologue illustration in Ellis & Solander (1786: 124, pl. 24, fig e): (Woelkerling & Harvey 2012: 113, fig. 1) Notes: Lectotype and epitype designated by Woelkerling & Harvey (2012: 113). As no anatomical features are available for the lectotype, an epitype (MICH 10572) was designated by Woelkerling & Harvey (2012: 112). This epitype also supports the lectotype of the genus Amphiroa. Epitype collection details are: West Indies: Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts-Nevis, Leeward Islands (M. Edlund & M. Wynne, 25 September 1995).
