The type species (lectotype) of the genus Gracilaria is Gracilaria compressa (C.Agardh) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Gracilariopsis irregularis (I.A.Abbott) N.Muangmai, A.Chirapart & A.Lewmanomont.
